menu not appearing (ex: File-new...)

menu not appearing (ex: File-new...)

I just started exploring courselab,
and I'm having problems because sometimes, I can't use some of the menu because it won't appear.

For instance, I go to "File-new" and my mouse is right over 'new', but the submenu for 'new' doesn't appear.
Right now, I am unable to insert a picture. I click on "insert", and I have my mouse over "picture", and nothing appears. (I didn't click on "picture" though. I tried it once, and the whole thing disappeared, so..Im just placing the mouse over the menu, without clicking on it)

A minute ago, it worked fine, and a minute ago, it didn't just like now. Sometimes the menu appears fine, sometimes it doesn't. Right now, it doesn't and I can't get it to work.(I'm stuck for about 20 minutes now because of this)

Is it just me, or does anyone else have this problem?
What should I do?

Hi, Grace,

Quite strange... Maybe you have a lot of programs running concurrently, so this is just system memory shortage?

I've occasionally had this on my XP PC, the menu's will just disappear and only closing and opening courelab . It shouldn't be memory as I have 4GB. This can be when running Courselab only but more frequently when I do have a few other apps open like Photoshop and Dreamweaver. I have also occasionally seen this but more rarely on other apps.
It seems that for some reason the menus themselves aren't rendering which makes it a directx or graphics driver problem.
If I get it again I'll run some probes and see what is happening.
I haven't had this happen on my laptop which has Vista (the sooner windows 8 appears the better!!)programs run fine but the OS is just plain nasty
