I would just like to share something with the CourseLab community. I am gaining so much by being part of the community that I would like to give something back.

You might be aware of Camtasia, a super screen capturing tool that captures screen snaps as well as narrated screen videos. It is quite expensive though. Well, Techsmith, the company that produces Camtasia has released a free version called Jing, that works very simply and does a great job capturing screen shots, screen video, narrated or not. It also has a few simple tools to edit the screen shots. Its main feature is in sharing those screen shots.

I have found that it works very well together with CourseLab where there often is something on your screen that you would like to include in a course, be it something on a website, some graph one has created in Excel, some demo or whatever.

It is actually aimed at becoming a screenshot sharing program like flicr is a photo sharing program and youtube is a video sharing program. So for CourseLab developers that want to share screenshots of problems they have experienced, it is an ideal tool. You need to have dotnet 3.0+ installed and you need to sign up (free). You then get an acount to which you may upload your screen shots (free) if you want to share it with the world. You don't have to - you can simply 'share' it to your hard disk.
