when using the Task Controller object, at runtime I get the error "CallMethod: 101_recorder Constructor 'engineVar.pb' is null or not an object".

Any idea?

Actually, Task Controllers must work in pair with Test Controller. Therefore possible reason can be absence of Test Controller.
In fact these objects are legacy and will not be continued. If you can do the same without them, then it is better not to use them.
