On XP that should be more than enough RAM to most things. However if you get it again repeat with the task manager running and see what is doing what with your memory.
The uninstall, re-install is pretty simple as long as you have the MSI!! So get a fresh copy from here, remember ignore any virus messages you get as they are BS. This will install 090219 build that has had a few small fixes.
It'll update objects when you use a previously built module.
I'd be blaming exploder, sorry explorer, it might be worth a re-install to make sure all it's components are there.
If it had been Vista I wouldn't have been surprised at all by anything strange or bizarre it might do..
