Setting display to appear after "1 or 2 or 3" seconds for text box does not work. The text is visible as soon as the slide appears when you view the module.

I checked up the samples. This seems to be working and the settings I had done for my project is similar to what is there in the source file of the sample.

I installed courselab 2.4(free version) in my laptop with OS Windows 8.

Any suggestions?

You need to set action at page level on the left side of screen you see your slide in a vertical column. Select the slide, right click for sub-menu and choose action. Select 'On Display; then Display action and choose HIDE. Do this for every object you want to appear in synch with text.

As David notes there are actions that can be applied at different levels, best thought of as page or page component.
The page level are generally used to control events at different times during the pages life cycle, so you have
beforedisplay : when the page is initially loading before display afterdisplay : when the page has loaded and the page components displayed, or as above hidden.
These two event types are typically used to set the initial page object display before you add any interaction at the page level.
