Is it possible to have a page with both and iFrame and other content. E.g. an iFrame of something and instructions on the side.

I have tried to scale an iFrame to allow for some content on the side but neither CourseLab native content nor imported (flash) content seem to show. Only the iFrame, all other content gets omitted.

Might have something to do with the order of building the page.

I couldn't get it right either, then cut the iframe and pasted it back immediatly et voila: it was all there ...

Yep in one there Barend.
The z value for the layers isn't explicitly set so the browser engine just assigns them as they are created.
You need the I frame to be pretty much the top layer.
Using the arrange bring to front sometimes helps
