I've been using it on windows 7 since the beta was available, so yes it works with no problems (on the Professional and Ultimate versions).
IE8 seems mostly OK in that there are no obvious failings. It does have a compatibility mode that should mean most things work although as usual the rendering is again different from previous versions.
