I have a slight problem with reporting to my LMS (Smartschool). I end a course containing several quizzes with the action: AfterDisplay Set completion status to completed (for Total). The score is being transferred properly, but twice. So I get two entrances for a student, with the same results. Any idea what's causing this?
Thanks

You might play the SCO in the Reload Scorm Player. It monitores some (all?) communication between SCO and the player.
Is the completion status set more than once? That might be the problem allthough I think a LMS should only register it once. Hence it would be an error in the LMS. Maybe Nick can say something about it (where are you Nick, still alive I hope?)
You could do with a little test: set status completed on every page; for every page you should get an entrance then.
A solution could be to set a variable in your SCO when a goal is reached and only at the end set status completed.

I checked to see if there is more than one completion status set, but there's only one, at the end, when the pupil gets his result of the previous quizzes. Could you tell me how to go about setting a variable for goals reached? Anyway, many thanks for your time trying to help me. Dirk

I really hope Nick will be back soon. He knows more about quis results, LMS, completed and things. Maybe you can find some answers in the examples on his site www.friendsofcourselab.info

Hi
I made a test file containing only empty slides, ending in a slide with the action 'set completion status' (for total) completed. This test file gives double entries too in my LMS.

I would defenitely play the testpackage in the Reload Scorm Player. No install, it's on Java.
I remember there is software which shows all communication between LMS and SCO but, sorry, I can't remember the name. Anyhow, I think the Reload Scorm Player should give more information ...

Hmm .. I just tried ... seems it differs from the mechanism from another authoring system.
I tried to contact NickJ, He knows quite a lot about these problems. Upto now he didn't reply.

Hmmm ... NickJ is alive and working ... with the reload scorm player you load the package, click on the module (in the 2nd column), open 'core'. at 'lesson_status' you see 'not attempted'. now click in the first column on the sco and click 'run'. At a time you click in the 2nd column on the icon of the book and then reopen the status: it is refreshed. Seems here it is 'incomplete' after the course, should be 'completed' which message I get using another authoring system. Could be I didn't define the goals in the CL file.
I like these kind of puzzles and I learn from it so if you can send your small test package, I will have a look what's happening in terms of javascript calls. It can take quite a few days because I'm quite busy at the moment. I don't want to type my emailaddress (spam) but just google my name. My last name is 'maaskant'. You'll have my emailaddress in no time.
It could be Nickj is back soon and has an answer ...
