Hi,

I have an E-Learning site built using SharePoint with SharePoint Learning Kit installed.

A courseware with an embedded wmv file was created and uploaded to the site. When the assignment runs, everything else is showing fine, but the video does not play.

I have tried all possible options available (movie autostart, dooes not autostart, minimal or full controls). I have even tried to embed a FLV file instead, but the same problem persists.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I also have this problem. My e-learning site is on a school network, so I think maybe that is the problem.

I can watch a video on a website e.g. bbc.co.uk but if I save the file to the network it does not open in IE and therefore won't work when viewed through the e-learning sharepoint site. It does work in Courselab itself though, even when stored on the network. It also works in IE if stored on the c drive (though this is not accessible to teachers so can't be used) Any ideas?

Could it be the IE settings or a network related problem?

I have solved my network problem by changing the registry files and videos now play over the network. However, they still won't play in courselab lessons assigned through sharepoint learning kit. Could it be the way the file is zipped? Any ideas?

Hi, Eric,

Possible reason is some characters in video file name. Windows Media Player is more sensitive to file names then IE itself. Please try to name it only Latin letters and numbers.
Also - there was a bug in FLV object (FLV files were not published), that is fixed in latest CourseLab build (20080609)

The video still does not play after attempting what you've advised.

This is urgent as my project is badly delayed because there are some issues with CourseLab that makes it unstable. One is the latency issue which I've posted in another thread, and the other is this video problem. So I urgently need a solution to this.

I'm working with Eric on this project. I've tried to rename the video file to "hi.avi" and it still doesn't work.

When trying to 'view module' from CourseLab the video can run. However, when the published package is uploaded into SharePoint, the windows media player embedded on the page just indicate 'ready' instead of the normal 'connecting/buffering'. I tried to run the start.html in your package. The page cannot be displayed at all and it gives an Invalid character error.

In addition, I've also tried the flash video. It does not work even when I try to 'view module' from CourseLab. I named my file as "hi.flv".
